Guest guest
Over the past month many of you are probably familiar with the fact that ne and I had very differing opinions over the consumption of saturated fats. Both of us stepped back and began to realize that besides the saturated fats issue, both our children's diets had many commonalities which have resulted in very good growth. So privately, over the past couple weeks we have been comparing diets and listed below are some of the diet characteristics which are similar and may be of benefit to your children. GENERAL DIET GUIDELINES that MATHCHED: •Eat primarily a fresh whole foods diet; avoided fast foods, processed foods, and trans fats •Eat foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids, primarily fish (additionally, also has cod liver oil that contains high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids) •Eat a lot of protein in the form of fish, lean meat, chicken, cheese, and nuts •Frequently prepared foods with homemade meat broths/stocks (chicken, beef, fish). This is an important component since broths help to aid digestion. Broths have an excellent track record for treating intestinal disorders including diabetes, hyperacidity, colitis, and Crohn's disease. Additionally, they are rich in minerals and electrolytes that are easily assimilated. •Avoid vegetable oils, used primarily extra virgin olive oil •Carbohydrates are complex in nature; including whole grains, brown rice and fruits •Soak overnight or sprout grains, nuts and legumes to neutralize phytic acid. Phytic acid is a substance present in all grains that inhibits absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, also results in irritating the intestinal track •Sometimes soak protein overnight in a solution of milk for easier digestion •Eat primarily grass feed rather than grain fed cattle. Most cattle in USA are grain fed to increase size, which is not their natural diet. As a result they have very low levels of Omega-3 fatty acids and are frequently given anti-biotics to handle the resulting sickness from this improper diet. Most are also given GH to further increase size. OTHER ISSUES: •Plenty of exercise and physical activity Beth & ne
