Guest guest
Hi all, I am writing this from the hospital. had an endoscopy done yesterday & a pH probe inserted. He'll be discharged later this afternoon. Looking back, I think may have been hypoglycemic when he was much younger, but I always attributed his symptoms to dumping syndrome. He had delayed gastric emptying, and couldn't tolerate large volumes of formula. He would retch horribly, get lethargic, cool, and clammy, etc. until he basically " passed out. " Since reading all the postings about blood sugar, I did ask that he be given D5 or D10 when we got the hospital. They gave him D5, but he was only connected for about an hour, maybe two hours tops. After the procedure, they took his blood sugar, and it was 132. The monitor said that was out of normal range. Is that high? Was it high because he was on D5? He wasn't on it when they took his blood. I have to admit all this talk about blood sugar, ketones, etc. is the one aspect of RSS that confuses me. Kim C.
