Guest guest
Dear Sheryl, Never ever, ever, ever, feel bad about your women's intuition, mothering instinct or gut feeling about your child with RSS. Primary care taker's get in tune with their child in a way that few doctors ever bond with a patient. Your presence day and night with your child makes you the expert regardless of your savvy about this syndrome. Many of us on this list serve went months and even years " knowing " something wasn't right with our kids. Sometimes we were bullied into doing things that weren't necessary or conunterproductive to our childs health. Other times when we went forward with something that was ultimately beneficial for our child, we were chastized for being meddlesome, bothersome or over reactive. The primary care physician who got mad at me for enrolling Connor in the State of Virginia's Early Intervention program also recommended that I not see a Pediatric G.I. specialist for Connor's silent reflux. I finally fired him and found a doctor who would communicate with all of Connor's doctor's. You really need to create a team atmosphere when dealing with so many specialists. Not many of us have the wonderful luxury of having Dr. H. treat our kids. I find that she treats the whole syndrome whereas I need five specialists to do what Dr. H. does alone. You are doing your best. The fact that you are here and learning is a huge step in the right direction. So, don't be so hard on yourself. You are an amazing parent and will do what is best for your child. Take Care, Mom to Graham 8 ADD; Cameron 5; Connor RSS Kyphosis G-Tube Periactin Prevacid Zantac GH in two weeks.
