Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group and just about to start the diet. I have a question about food sensitivities in conjunction with the diet. I had a food sensitivity test done about 2 years ago. I found out that I was highly reactive to several different foods (including honey, beef, and almonds). If I avoid what I'm sensitive to and follow the diet, I'm worried it's too much to take on all at once. I'm just wondering if I should be that concerned with what I'm sensitive to. Is it more important to just make sure I follow the diet? Any advice would be great. Thanks so much! Mark
Guest guest
Mark, Everyone is different but my husband who has crohn's was diagnosed with lots of food allergies before his current diagnosis and we have found that many of his " allergic " foods, he can now eat. We surmised that all along he had bowel problems, just that no one could pin point what was the real problem until it flared really badly. The only thing you can do is start with the basics and add in other items one at a time, you might find the same thing, that you are not really allergic, just overly hypersensative and that some foods are only sometimes foods, foods you can have once a month or so for a special occasion. jena Hi Everyone,I'm new to the group and just about to start the diet. If it was anaphylactic, no, you don't want to eat that! You may find after a few months, that as your gut heals, those sensitivities are significantly reduced, or even vanish. <g> Follow the diet... ask questions as needed (it helps if you give us a URL to a product you may be asking about)... recognize that SCD works, but it does take TIME to heal. Guest guest
Hi Mark,You can use dates for sweetening instead of honey. Usepecans and cashews and walnuts instead of almondsand just leave out beef for now.Everyone ends up at some point doing a personallyamended version of SCD - that is, while all the foodsyou can't eat are legal, not everyone can tolerate theminitially. So people end up working around that and often, once healing takes place, can add them back in.Mara, currently dairy free.
