leah, they can still be your friends! just let your new tummy heal

up longer, ok? some of that stuff can sit kind of heavy the first

month or so. the emotional food feelings will get better when you

realize that early postop eating is not how it's gonna be forever.

some of your favorites may take a little longer than others for you

to be able to tolerate them well. and you'll have to get used to

ordering alot less food. or else be willing to eat lots of leftovers

over several meals. some stuff is hard to reheat and make it taste

good again tho.

i miss being able to sit and drink 4-5 cups of coffee with a meal.

and i miss the bread. loved bagels. tried to eat one a while back

and just didn't like it. but my MIND still thinks fondly of them!

go figure.

that brings up another point to ponder: all this food you say you

really miss - when you try eating it again - you may not even like it

anymore! sometimes our tastes change after surgery. you imagine

eating some of your favorite things but when you really try them -

it's like - blah - so what. that tasted alot better in my memory

than in my mouth!

so don't wear black and go into mourning just yet.

and change the blasted tv station when those commercials come on.

don't torture yourself. you will be feeling better real soon, so

hang in there baby!

hugs,

mary y
