Title: Using Media to Mobilize Latino Communities, Part 2Date:Thursday, October 14, 2010Time:2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT Media can be a very effective way of mobilizing communities around a public health issue and getting the word out about your organization's programs and activities. However, without an advanced media and PR department, how can a small organization get their story placed in the media or effectively utilize social media? Poder Sano, an initiative of Farmworker Justice, invites you to join a continuation of our media series entitled "Using Media to Mobilize Latinos". Alcalzar, the president and CEO of Hispanic Communications Network, will join our "talk show" again as he discusses how to get your stories placed in the media, work with community partners, effectively utilize social media, and evaluate your media strategy. Hispanic Communications Network has been engaging Latinos across the United States with customized, fully-integrated media campaigns that blend dynamic television, radio, print and internet elements. Through collaboration they work with organizations to increase media interest among news editors and reporters, secure airtime on radio and TV, and effectively market human interest stories to the media. In this webinar, we will address how to build effective stories for the media, work with community partners, and evaluate the effectiveness of your media strategy. By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to: * list 5 dos and don'ts for building effective media stories; * list two ways an organization can identify community partners; * discuss the benefits of social media in the Latino community; and * explain how to measure the success of a media strategy. **If you missed the first webinar in our series, you can view it here:https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/729351849 About Hispanic Communications Network (HCN):HCN is a social and health marketing and media organization that reaches and involves US Hispanic communities in health and social justice matters that affect their lives through all-encompassing communications solutions.
