Guest guest
DS is a great wls. After surgery, you can basically eat anything, as you have a normal working stomach. They make your stomach smaller, and switch your plumbing so you have less of the small intestine (where the food is absorbed) absorbing calories. It is hard for me to describe, and lots of people who have had RNY say it is bad because it has malabsorption, however, all that means is you have to take vitamins and calcium everyday of your life, which I don't consider a sacrifice since I can have a normal life after. There are many great lists on DS but the most informative is duodenalswitch You can also learn more about it by going to duodenalswitch zone on yahoo. Here is a great article to read which I was blessed to receive and which informed me about the DS. I am scheduled for surgery Dec. 18, 2001.
