Guest guest
It's not unusual for opiate pain meds (vicodin, percocet, vicodin and the like) to cause itching and regular benzadril from the pharmacy OTC can help. The itching is a sort of allergic reaction to the opiate. I have appreciated all the input on Pain Control. I have decided to print up many posts and take them to my appointment with the pain clinic doc. And consult the pharmacist tomorrow when I pick up my new monthly RX for oxycontin. Lots of people have thought my surgeon should know about pain meds and she did-know about the ones she uses for pain control. However OxyContin isn't one she had ever used and even after my discussion with her about it prior to surgery she still had no clue how it would react...just gave me the general " some time release medications do not work after WLS surgery " . My pain clinic doc had never had a WLS patient (though as I have sat in the office waiting room I have realized that over eating is a very common form of self medication for pain patients). So she didn't really know what would happed and took a 'We'll see' attitude. All I know is that recently I don't have good pain control and that causes depression and makes activities difficult. Since I suffer from SAD (seasonal depression) anyhow, I don't need any more depressing things going on now that Orygun is the rain capitol of the world again. We also call that " fall " here. I'm glad to hear that whoever was RX'd OC is taking it the way it is ordered...I also feared becoming addicted and only took the meds when I was really in pain...that causes a rollercoaster of pain and no pain that is worse. Oh and the constipation can be handled with metamucil...I haven't needed it since my DS...but was told I could still take it post op if needed. I'd try half a dose first and see how the body reacts. It's really a life saver cor constipation. elle/3+ months out and under 200# for the first time since 1968
