Guest guest
Dearest Ellen, I am so sorry to hear about your dilema. Is it just the DS that was denied or WLS in general. Because if it was just the DS, since this is your life we're talking about here, I would have a RNY in a heartbeat even though my surgery of choice is a DS hands down. I'm fighting the battle of the insurance too, just since March though. But I'll be 48 December 1st and I feel a sense of panic like I'm waisting prescious time over all this. I'm not ready to roll over and die, though I'm sure my insurance wouldn't care one way or another. But if my pulse oxygen was low like yours, I would practice breathing techniques to get myself ready for surgery and I would go for the dreaded RNY. The RNY especially the distal has been perfected with less side effects than just a couple of years ago. No surgery is a piece of cake, but if my doctor told me I wouldn't live to see 50 years of age, I would put it in high gear and settle. Please I'm notn implying that you haven't already faught, I've been reading your posts. I know the hell they put you through, I've already been there. But in light of your time element, reconsideration is in order. Please only take this as " my unworthy opinion " . I wish you the best of luck and the best of health. God Bless you.
