Guest guest
I have a question about Diarrhea and Gas. My surgery was 3 months ago and my recovery was almost entirely unremarkable. I feel great but have severe and chronic diarrhea. My surgeon admits that my diarrhea is the worst she's seen. I'm taking copius quantities of Loperimide (Lonox does not help) and I am taking Cholestyramine 3 times a day. With that combo, I have about 20 - 24 BM's a day but at least they are no longer like 'water works'. Also, I had NO GAS at all until I started the Cholestyramine. Now, the gas doesn't start until about 6 PM and then I have moderate gas until the next morning. The problem is, this gas could empty a church! I mean it's so nasty it's dangerous! What I want to know from post-op's is this: Does the diarrhea ever go away? Does the gas ever subside? How are things apt to change? Thank you one and all. gobo
