We just banded our son at CT in Texas 3 weeks ago. No insurance coverage. Cost

was $3600 or $3300 if you paid in full up front.

help me out please!!! i am new to this board and i have made an appt for my son

for monday morning. i called bcbs yesterday just to see what they would cover

adn she told me $600 MAX!!! i find that appalling. i was just curious if anyone

with this insurance actually got them to approve more than the $600.

Ditto on the cost. Still not sure about insurance.

Hi,

I just went through the whole insurance not covering with my son and it sucks!!

If BCBS is saying $600 max then trust me that's all your going to get. I work at

a hospital working the insurance claims for multiple insurance payers so I know

how they work. The total cost for my sons doc band was $3600 which included

everything, follow up appts, dsi imaging, and the actual fitting. My husband is

in the military so they gave us a $600 discount if we could pay the rest $3000

up front. Luckly I have an amazing job that got wind of my situation that

insurance denied the claim and I just didn't have $3000 so they offered to pay

for all my sons medical expenses dealing with the doc band. If you can't pay up

front you can try and apply for care credit. It's a loan that is stricly for

medical expenses and most place offer a deal that if you pay it off within a

year its no intrest however if you don't pay it off in a year the intrest is

crazy like 13.9% or something. My son got his band on Monday and he is adjusting

well, he is 4 months. I just got a sponge bob square pants theme painted on the

band and it looks great!! Well best of luck and if you have any question just

ask!!
