I’ve

found a brand or two of frozen wild salmon that my body will tolerate, but it

has to be half the fish, not smaller pieces. There are several brands of

frozen wild-caught salmon (Pacific or Alaskan salmon) in my local stores that

come in packages of 3 to 5 smaller pieces, and my body reacts badly every time

I tried them, a combination of digestive distress and immune response.

But I do just fine if I eat the few brands I’ve found that are frozen,

wild-caught salmon that is half the fish with the skin left on. I just

chop the half fish into smaller pieces and put back in the freezer to cook up

as I need it. I also do OK with wild-caught salmon at the local fish

markets that are half the fish with the skin left on.

The

packaging labels never indicate anything other than wild-caught salmon, but obviously

there is something in the processing my body reacts to. I’m

guessing it is something in the wash that was used only by processors skinning

the fish and chopping into smaller chunks. The others that just debone

and cut in half don’t use the same combination of processing aids.

My

digestion also reacts to canned wild-caught salmon and also tuna that doesn’t

contain any illegal ingredients per the labels. So I can’t eat

canned fish, just fresh or frozen, and as little processed as possible.

I

can find a brand of frozen wild-caught salmon that my digestion tolerates at

one Walmart in my area, and once in a while in a local chain grocery

store. Plus I can get it at a local fish market (only for higher

cost!). You might try looking for the frozen wild-caught salmon that is a

whole half of the fish, with the skin still on it.

I’m

lucky to live near the coast (Gulf Coast) so normally have access to a lot of

fresh, wild-caught fish. Unfortunately with the disastrous oil spill just

offshore, our local fishing waters are closed, and may be for some time to come.

So I’ll just have to pay for frozen fish shipped in from other

locations. [sigh]
