Dear Friends,

I was reading the Westchester section of the New York Times yesterday when I

found this passage about a mother of two boys with autism whose husband is

missing in the WTCs collapse.

I cant provide a URL for the article because the New York Times does not

seem

to post articles from the suburban sections online.

Im sending a check to the mom, in care of her priest, Monsignor nte.

Telephone, address, web site:

Maureen Fanning

c/o Msgr. Jim nte

St. the Apostle Church

church web site:

I hope youll forward this to friends and families. I can't imagine what this

mother is going through. She is living my own worst fear.

excerpt from

Suburban Memo

by Winerip

NYTIMES Sunday, September 23, 2001 Section 14 Westchester pp 1, 7

.. . . . The memorial services are just beginning to fill the suburban

churches and temples and funeral homes. Msgr. Jim nte, pastor for St.

the Apostle Church in West Hempstead, lost 26 from his parish and as

of midweek last week not a servicenot a single onehad been scheduled.

[paragraph omitted]

Maureen Flanning, whose husband, Jack, a New York City fire chief, is

missing, wont even talk to Monsignor nte about a funeral or memorial

service. Shes been going to the site and watching from a distance, said

Monsignor nte. She takes it literally that hes lost. Shes not accepted

that hes gone. She cant afford to have him dead. They have two sons, ,

13, and , 5, both autistic.
