I do suppose it is fine just like for normal people---Take as low a dose as you can and use only when you really need it. Guest guest
Hi; My name is Sandy and I'm in the market for a DS. I have only begun my research but from what I've seen and read so far I'm impressed. I 48, weigh 302 pounds and have been overweight since my first pregnancy in 1974. I have lost over 100 pounds at least 5 times in the lasta 20 years and 50+ pounds 9 times. Each time it comes back...only worse. I've done EVERYTHING from accupuncture, to Nutrysystems, to TOPS, to Weightwatchers, shots, the list goes on forever. Because of the health issues caused by my obesity, my doctors say I'm a perfect candidate for this surgery and would recommend that my HMO cover it. Now I read this about not being able to take ibuprophen anymore!! I have fibromyalgia as well and there are days I can barely move from the pain. What to do about this??? Thanks for all your input. Guest guest
Sandy, I think the point is that you CAN use NSAIDs after the D/S. In fact, this is SO true that it's one of the points I'm using with my insurance company to argue that the D/S is the more appropriate WLS for me (and thus, I must go out of network to get it). NSAIDs still do, however, mess up your gut, at least in most people. I hear you, though, because I love my ibuprofen more than anything! > > > I love ibuprofen! Guest guest
after surgery my surgeon himself told me to take 800 mg ibuprofen with food, 3X day when i pulled some stomach muscles. that lasted for a week or so, and helped my muscle pain alot. didn't bother my stomach at all. i took alot of relafen for arthritis pain before surgery as well, and it never bothered my stomach either. i would guess that if it doesn't bother you preop it may not bother you postop either. always, check with the pcp/surgeon first! i still take ibuprofen for headaches, fever, sore throat, etc; it just works better than tylenol for me. YMMV mary y > > > I love ibuprofen! I could eat it morning, noon, > > and night! It > > takes > > > care of almost all of my aches and pains, intense > > or mild.
