Guest guest
We also grate Gouda cheese and bake at 350 for 18-20 mins (until golden brown). My boys say they taste just like cheeze its!AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Wed, May 5, 2010 2:57:49 AMSubject: Re: Store Purchased Almond Butter-SUCCESS!! and I need something Crunchy!! Hey Pegi! I totally feel for/with you. I am on my 8th month of SCD and still eat just about everything pureed/cooked. BUT... there is hope! Are you eating cheese? Cheese chips may just have saved me on this diet. I've made them with swiss, havarti, and gouda- all are delicious! I buy pre-sliced cheese and cut the slices (ha, ha) into quarters, arrange them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet, and bake at 350 for 18-20 minutes. Then I put them on paper towels while they are cooling to soak up some of the grease. They are so good! They are no replacement for Doritos (hee, hee), but they sure are good. Better than cheeze-its at least... Hope you like them! -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 25mg Prednisone > On another topic, does anyone have any suggestions for something crunchy -- I'm still not able to eat any advanced foods, but I am jonesing so bad for something crunchy -- I am a former Spicy Nacho Dorito addict. Guest guest
::laughs:: Misty, I was only skimming and so missed my name and thought, " hey wait...that's exactly the recipe I use! " Glad I recognize my own cooking habits! If nuts are too advanced I also make this one that I found on veganrawfood.blogspot.com: No Nut Kale Chips 1 bunch of kale torn into " chips " Then 1 tablespoon of olive oil of poured over kale chips and toss with your hands. In a little cup I mixed 1/4 tsp onion powder (made my own) 1/4 tsp chili powder (I used Marilyn's recipe) 1/4 tsp garlic powder (made my own) 1/4 tsp basil pinch cayenne pinch of cumin Mix the seasoning mixture before you sprinkle it over the kale chips and toss with your hands. Dehydrate until crispy and enjoy. That's a lot. I'm going to try this today - but don't have that many on hand, so may do it with less unless I get to the store before I put it together. > 1/8-1/4 Cups of Lemon Juice (you can also add as much lemon juice the mixture until it tastes like a cheese) > Pinch of crystal salt > Preparation: > > Put all of the ingredients (except the kale) in the food processor until it's really smooth and not chunky. Get some fresh kale, rip it into chip size (without the stem), toss the mix with the kale. Then, when you're done, put the kale on mesh trays on the dehydrator. Put the dehydrator on 145 for 1 hour only, it won't destroy the enzymes, then after that hour, put the dehydrator on 105 or 110 for 6-8 hours or until crispy. Then it's all done! YUM! > > When you think you're ready, you could also try making nachos with pork skins (only ingredients pork, salt). I put ground beef, shredded cheeses, onion, jalapenos... anything I tolerate and bake until done. It's really yummy. Hmm, now I wonder how ground beef would taste in kale chips. I guess I'll work on that next time. Mara
