Guest guest
Proximal RNY has little or no malabsorption. The egg-sized pouch has to do all the work.>>>>>> That explains why so many of them have late weight regain and why they are so hungry all the time and seem to be on the never ending merry-go-round of trying to diet once again to either keep the weight down or get it off..... All one has to do is join the ossg_hungry group and see the torture many of them are going thru. Judie

Only you can make those decisions > for yourself. I was 37 when I had my DS, and now 2+ years later, I feel that my longevity is enhanced. I can walk, run, bend, breathe! But the A#1 MOST IMPORTANT thing that tells me my longevity is just as good as anyone else on this earth is this: I take my vitamins and I get my bloodwork. 12 vials of blood tested nine ways from Monday, to ensure that all my levels are healthy. As diligent post-ops, we monitor ourselves more closely than non-ops do! I've venture to guess that my non-op sister has worse nutrient levels than I do! Monitor, monitor, monitor, be religious about the vitamins, and tweak as necessary (with your surgeon's supervision) -- that's the bottom line. I do that, and I go forth with this life free of fat and free of worry. I'm healthy, dammit. And I'm going to stay that way. You know, it's not as if there's NO recourse if things ever started to go downhill. The stomach never needs reversing, but the intestines CAN be tweaked to varying degrees and even fully reversed if the need arose. Before I'd let my health decline, I'v certainly opt for a reversal. But I'm diligent enough that I feel confident that need won't arise.
