Guest guest
Hi Mimi, Glad to hear that you had a good check up! Depending on the problem with Isaac's eyes he may get glasses. Olivia has severe astigmatism and got her first pair of glasses at 10 months old, she weighed about 10lbs then. Good luck with it and a big hug for Isaac for getting his needles! He has gained almost a pound in a month vs the 5 oz monthly gain before the Periactin..so it is working!! The pediatrician was pleased with his progress over the last year even though he is still well below 3% on the charts. He does want us to see a pediatric opthomologist because Isaac eyes cross occasionally. I am not sure if they can do anything about it at this point because I assume he is too little for glasses. All in all it was a good visit-except for the shots of course. Guest guest
I believe crossed eyes are sometimes easily fixed by patching or wearing glasses. The sooner you cathch the problem the better. I feel bad that it took me so long to notice my 's eye issues. My started wearing glasses a few months after he turned 2. I didn't notice he had a problem until I was gathering photos to send to Grandma. When I looked at all the photos taken outside, he was always covering his right eye. I knew this wasn't right.... Turns out he has extropia (eye turns out rather than in) and his vision in his right eye was pretty poor. They didn't patch his eye but once he started wearing glasses and using that eye it strengthened. His musles have grown so much stronger in that eye, the Dr. has not been able to get it turn out. Yahooo!! Means no surgery!! He was very small at the time but we were able to get glasses at an optomitrist that specilaized in children's glasses. Of course, this also meant more expensive. Once Matt realized how much his vision improved he did not take his glasses off and on and is really great about wearing them. When he was younger, our biggest problem was other children at daycare trying to grab at his glasses. Poor Matt suffered a few cuts and bruises.... Plus we had several pairs of broken glasses.
