I requested a note from Dr. Hess and asked them just to write that I was having " major abdominal surgery " and about how long I would need to be off work. I had told my immediate supervisor (department chair) that I needed to be off for " gallbladder removal and some other things " . I got the note from Dr. Hess to turn in to the personnel office so that I wouldn't even have to speak to them face to face. I know they would want to show concern by asking if I was o.k., etc., etc., and this way I never had to talk to them. The stress of trying to get all this done would make my life more difficult than the few days I'll have to be under possibly less than compasionate care. And the heavier patient would need the bariatric bed the most. I'd be sleeping for two of those days anyway. Just what I would do, not necessarily anyone else.
