Guest guest
Yep, it's a probiotic, just not a bacterial probiotic.pro- good/forbiotic - lifethese are bizarrely used bastardized latin phrases for either good bacteria, or also good yeasts. I don't think they apply it to anything else.. I've never heard of a good virus. for quite awhile now people have been using good yeasts to fight bad yeasts. Also, now they have found that s. boulardii can actually help with healing gut problems like IBD, even outside of yeast fighting action. I was told it produces helpful things, I really don't know at all how that works/would work. S. Boulardii is a non-colonizing yeast. I don't think I have a yeast problem, but I take it. It does make me feel better.I would think you should not ask for forgiveness for not knowing this. On the contrary, good question, as always, and keep up the good learning work :) Best Forgive me for not knowing this. But I am trying to research all the time (outside of working, being a mom, and homeschooling). Is s. boulardii a probiotic? I was thinking it had to be one of the strains but this is a yeast? I'm confused?Saccharomyces Boulardii is a unique, non –pathogenic yeast that has many beneficial actions in the intestinal tract. Sboulardii has been utilized worldwide as a probiotic supplement to support gatstrointestinal health.

It's one of the allowed probiotics, but yes, it is a FRIENDLY yeast, which, among other things, eats Candida for lunch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saccharomyces_boulardii has quite a bit of information about it. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
