I am wondering how soon you are able to eat like an

egg and toasts or ham, chicken, potatoes. Since I am

having surgery out of state I want to shop before hand

so the house is well supplied so I don't have to go

out right away when I get home. I am trying to get an

idea of foods to purchase and I have had this

nightmare that I have to go weeks without real food(I

think it because my friend Ihad the RNY) anyways if

anyone of you post op could jelp me with this I'd sure

appreciate it. My surgery is 2 weeks from today.

OOOOOH am I getting nervous.

Thanks

I was given puree'd eggs (not great) on the third day in the hospital. Once

I got home, I usually ate 1/2 of a scrambled egg for breakfast. For about

two weeks that was all I could handle at a time. Sometimes I would put

cheese on it for some additional flavor. For lunches I would have Healthy

Choice soups. In the beginning I would open the can, take out a couple of

ounces for lunch and put the rest into ice cube trays. Once frozen, I would

just pop them into a freezer bag. Pretty soon I could eat 3 " cubes " of soup

at a time. In the beginning your portions will be very small and you will

feel satisfied. I wouldn't go out and buy too much beforehand. I felt like

going out within 10 days of my surgery and hopefully you will to. That is

when I did my shopping for anything else I needed.

The nerves at this point are a real challenge to deal with but you will be

fine and feel wonderful....soon.

,

I was eating pureed bean soup, chili, scrambled eggs, tunafish salad etc. the

week I came home frome the hospital. Four days after surgery, we had tickets

for " The Producers " (no way in h-l I was going to miss THAT!) and afterward

went to a diner & had a chicken croquette. A few days later, my dh and I

went out for dinner, I had shrimp in lobster sauce- I figured if I chewed

thoroughly it be considered " soft " food by the time I swallowed. My diet has

been interesting and varied from the get-go;must be doing something right- 3

1/2 months post-op I'm down 76 lb. and feeling fabulous. Hope this has been

of some help.
