Thanks to all for all the birthday wishes. I'd thank each of you but

then there would be way too many additional posts.

I use to hate birthdays but now I find it a very special day. Didn't

know if this one would come or not and don't know about the next one.

However, I live my life now on a one year plan so birthday becomes a

good time to make plans for 2010. Officially working on places to go,

people to see, things to do. All those things that if I only have one

year, I want to be sure to fit in. This will be my third year planning

that way. I figured by now it might be smaller increments, but I still

feel bold. Extra birthdays are very nice but only if we put those years

to good use. Fortunately I've had the support from my counselor and my

family and friends, especially the ones here, to help me do that.

Yes, we all have limitations toward our enjoyment, but who doesn't. My

biggest one is not being wealthy so I could do everything I'd

like....lol. For much of my life, my limitations were self inflicted.

They were priorities and less appropriate goals. I'm very fortunate to

be able to live life as I do today. I suspect I have as many different

conditions as anyone here. However, while we sometimes call PF a

monster, we all need to remember that there are so many worse monsters

out there.

I feel funny thinking of reaching a birthday as an accomplishment, but

then I think about it more. I've taken care of myself, mentally and

physically. I've exercised, I've taken precautions, I've practiced what

I preach. Maybe I would have gotten to this birthday anyway but not

nearly as happy as I am had I not exercised some wise mind. It's my full

intent to get every possible mile out of these lungs they have. But

thats not just quantity of life I'm after, it's continuing to work hard

to have quality. I know its not the ordinary thing to say but I don't

feel angry over my disease or my condition. Instead, I feel thankful for

another year and blessed to be able to plan the next one.

So, the old me would have said about the birthday " no big deal " or would

have lied about my age or would have lamented getting older. Instead I

thank you all for your kind wishes and hope your next birthdays will

bring you the same kind of joy from life that mine brings me.
