Hi ,

I looked at the pictures, and one more sign is pointing to YES :-)

You're family and friends are not used to looking at baby's heads. If

you have his pictures along with a baby's head who doesn't have

plagio/brachy I'm sure they could see it. He has a lot of extra width,

some extra height, and no curve at the back of his head. This can all

be fixed with banding so don't worry, but it is a problem for now.

My daughter had brachy and got her band at 5 mo old .Her pics are

under Our Plagio Babies S/Sydney M. Her starband made a huge difference.

His pediatrician and Cranial Tech recommend banding. I dont want to

band but feel that all signs point to YES! But I would still like

opinions from people who I dont know and who are not family and

friends (who of course say they see nothing wrong with his head).

hi rachel

our son has brachy and not quite as flat as cole's but still pretty

flat. he has no asymmetry (plagio), but we chose to band him. we

tried repo from 4-7 mos of age and it just didn't work because he was

strong enough to wiggle out of all positions we tried. he made a few

mm of progress in each month we did repo/PT, and he even has been

sleeping on belly and sides for quite some time, but the flatness and

height-to-width ratio is still noticeable, especially when his hair is

wet.

he gets his band on wednesday and we hope to get good results. he will

be 8 mos on thursday. we aren't seeking perfection, so if we feel that

the back has rounded out a lot by 2-3 months time, we may just stop at

that time. CT's general estimate for babies his age is roughly 3-4

months.

good luck with your decision! i really didn't want to band either, but

with the support of another member who also lives in san diego, just

talking thru it helps a lot and you will be ok with it, regardless of

what your family and friends say. (btw, mine do the same thing -- " oh,

he looks fine! the docs are crazy! it will go away on its own!, etc

etc)
