Guest guest
Hi Z, Oh I do hope this works quickly for you. You and your family will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for taking the time to post to us. Love & Prayers, PeggyFlorida, IPF/UIP 2004"I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet, when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly." and discussed my treatment. I'm going to have both radiotherapy and a low dose chemotherapy for 4 weeks. They will then check on the size of the tumour and decide whether to operate or continue for a further 2 weeks. The radiotherapy will be everyday (not saturday and sunday) but apparently it will take me longer to find a parking spot than it will to actually be zapped!I have to see the medical oncologist on wednesday so that she can work out exactly what chemo is right for me.It looks like the treatment is going to start on monday week.I am currently on opiates! Wayhay! I'm not allowed to take my normal approach to painkillers and take them only when I'm in pain, I'm to take them 4 times a day to stop me being in pain. (I was finding that the tramadol wasn't working, but it's because it's a build up effect)Because of where the cancer is, and where they're going to do the radiotherapy, this will bring on the menopause, she said that it's 13 years earlier than expected, but I don't know if that's an average or if she's got that from my personal information. She was terribly worried that I'd be upset that I wouldn't be able to have anymore children! Hahahahaha! Yeah right, cos one isn't enough with all my other problems! I'm still absolutely exhausted, which is why I haven't been around a lot. There is every possibility that after this round of treatment the cancer will be gone gone gone So that bit of string is turning into a rope now Thank you all for your good wishes.Love Ze xx
Guest guest
Zena Warrior I've been trying to keep up between here and facebook and just so happy to see you with hope in spite of what's shown up in your path. It does sound like your doctors believe they can get it, just figuring out exactly what dosage and combination and how long is the task. Opiates, oh my......now don't do anything too wild or crazy. We are thinking of you even when you're not posting much. > > > and discussed my treatment. > > I'm going to have both radiotherapy and a low dose chemotherapy for 4 > weeks. Guest guest
So, more waiting! I have to have a scan in the position that I will be for the radiotherapy (surprisingly NOT legs akimbo) and they are going to TATOO me to make sure they line me up right each time Hopefully this will be friday. I will be getting i/v chemo once a week, hopefully my veins will be up to that without needing a port. I have been given a prescription for liquid morphine, and instructions to make a note of how much I'm using so that they can adjust if necessary. I will be going on clexane, it's more to do with clexane being more stable and not affected by any chemo. I should be starting them on friday. I'll be having the full six weeks of treatment and then they'll see how it's doing. She did say that she would expect the tumor to be reduced enough in 2 weeks to make a considerable difference to my comfort levels. The radiotherapy will cause burning. The skin in that area being more sensitive and not exposed to the elements like other skin it's very likely to break down. If this happens then I'll be hauled in to hospital to get that sorted. I've been told to get my flu jab sorted before the treatment starts. Dunno why I told you that, more to remind me to get it sorted >> Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and hoping and praying for the absolute best outcome.> PJ in OH, 54, IPF'09,Sjogren's|'95> > An update - saw my oncologist yesterday> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > and discussed my treatment. > > > I'm going to have both radiotherapy and a low dose chemotherapy for 4 weeks. Hopefully you make it through this with as little discomfort as possible. It sounds so overwhelming and if it sounds that way to me I can only imagine how it sounds to you.
