Guest guest
Isn't awesome when results like this happen right away? A week after Maysa got her DOC band I also started to see results that I was able to capture in pictures. It way slow down but with only 8mm left, it should take too long. It sounds like you hit a HUGE growth spurt just in time. It may slow down a little, it really just depends on how fast he continues to grow. Hope it stays at this pace!Jake-2.5 (DOCBand Grad 9/08)Jordan-5>> Hi, I am a UK mummy of 6 month old Dan who had his LOC band fitted for 14mm plagio with torticollis last week. After just 1 week (and only 4 full nights in the helmet) he has gone down to 8mm!! Has anyone else had experience of this sort of early improvement - is it likely to slow down now? We were so worried about getting a helmet for Dan but are over the moon with the results!>
Guest guest
Hi debramclellan-- brilliant. We too are riding high as 'D' has gone from 25mm-14mm in 2 weeks . Amazing. We have been told she will slow down now, and that on the odd visit we may find little movement at all, but she is still on course to be finished at the end of 6mths in the band. Guest guest
That's so encouraging to hear. We have the same story where we have been told all the way down the line that a helmet was unnecessary, uncomfortable for the baby and would only take us more quickly to where mother nature would eventually get us. I had a really good read of everything on this forum and various other UK forums and came to the conclusion that this is simply not the case in the majority where baby is classified as severe (12mm + in the UK). Dan has been sleeping much better since he had the helmet and has not fussed about it at all. In fact, I sense that it is somehow helping him get comfortable - being constantly repositioned can't be much fun! Thanks for your story and keep me posted about how it goes. It sounds like your little one has had an amazingly successful experience and that is so wonderful and encouraging to hear! We have the next session in 2 weeks so will let you know our progress too. We started at 17 mm plagio with torticollis. Cranial Tech will measure again this week, I think, which will be 4 weeks in the DOC band.. We started at 5.5 months and the first week had tremendous improvement. Almost looked like a completely different little head! We, too, were thrilled. We expected not to see as much rapid improvement after that, but we have had 3 consecutive weeks of significant growth spurts (according to CT...4mm/3mm/ 4mm). The past two weeks of improvement have been less noticeable, but I think that's because so much happened the first week that you actually had to be looking for the problem by week 2 to know it existed. So, while we expected the change to slow down a bit, it really hasn't yet...because of those timely growth spurts. I am so glad we chose to go forward with the band. Had we taken the advice of one pediatrician and one specialist, we would still be watching it, worried and hoping it would improve on its own. Instead, we're almost through with treatment (possibly just 1-3 weeks left) after just 4 weeks and it looks great!! Glad you're seeing such great results, too!Jill Cade's mom (6 mo, DOC band, 6/18/09) >> Hi, I am a UK mummy of 6 month old Dan who had his LOC band fitted for 14mm plagio with torticollis last week.
