Guest guest
I have been reading a lot of different boards, all regarding WLS. The one continuous theme I see is that many feel that their choice of surgery is the absolute best, and strangely enough feel compelled to denigrate all other choices. The one universal truth we all share is that of obesity in our lives. I know there is only one choice for me. Thank God that type of surgery is available, and hopefully if I win my insurance battles, I will have it. The most wonderful thing, in my opinion, is that there are different types of surgery for different dietary needs and lifestyles. Is it true that there are some folks who had a surgery that is not as effective as newer forms of surgery? Yes, absolutely. I assume those of us who have the surgery this year may find that in 3 years there are less invasive, more successful surgeries available. This is the nature of medicine in general. Will I still be thrilled with my DS? I certainly hope so, and I certainly hope that those who follow won't feel compelled to denigrate the choice that I made that was the best choice for me, at the time I made it! We have enough outside predjudice. We need to stick together and support each other. I also think that we have an obligation of educating those who are still in the decision makin process, just so that they can make the most educated decision possible. But then, like I see with some of my hero's who post here...we need to support whatever decisions made...and congratulate them for the courage in moving forward towards health! Just my long winded opinion! Theresa (two)
