Guest guest
Don't want to do something that isn't FDA approved?? I almost chuckled out loud when I read that... here we have vaccines that are approved, and look at what they have done to [some] of our kids. That is really sad! I guess we can look at it that change is hard, and sometimes scary. W is not willing to try the diet, > even knowing that it helps others, because their kids eat nothing but > pasta and milk(guess why?) or they dont want to do something not FDa > approved. I guess to each their own, but i wish people would be more > openminded and willing to explore something which may potentionally > be very helpful to their child. The only reason why I tried the diet is because I heard it worked for some children and I thought ok so what could it hurt? Nothing! He eats stuff with corn and potatoes anyways, then I found that there are TONS of products out there made without gluten or casien and I thought hey this is doable and if it works I am all for it. I will never turn back now. He is so much better with the diet now then he was 6 months ago. He still only wants to eat cereal and french fries and crackers but he acts better and sometimes he will try new things, which he never did before. I just have to keep asking him and see what happens. Melinda
Guest guest
What I have learned. Chat rooms -- people in chat rooms generally want to do one of three things. 1. Brag about their child's accomplishments [a very good thing to do for an AS child!], 2. Get immediate help for an immediate issue regarding their child, 3. Just chat about non-autism stuff with other parents who have semi-similar lives. Yes there are some people in chatrooms who do not know about diet and other things, but in general those people are on message boards. Most people in chatrooms are tired of being " preached at " by those who believe they have found " the cure " for autism. This includes vaccines, diet, ABA, NAET, and any other intervention out there that has at any time been touted as a " cure " . Message boards -- this in my opinion is where you would " discuss " diet issues. For most of the general autism message boards on which I participate, the people either 1. don't know about the diet, so you can post a reply which indicates diet, if you would like to and/or it might be a solution to the description of the child which is given, or 2. already know about the diet and are tired of the preaching, so they can skip your message about diet [which they pretty much cannot do if you are in a chatroom]. So I would say that if your experience is in a chatroom, that I do not blame the parents for being tired of hearing it. I get tired of hearing it too, and my children are gfcf and vaccine-injured. I don't go to chatrooms to talk about that, but to talk about other things. And if your experience is on a message board, just realize that there are people out there who are reading your information, even if they never reply, and even if the only replies you receive are negative. People lurk on all the message boards and never reply, but they do read and learn. Dana
Guest guest
As regards the " FDA approved " status of any particular diet...you may want to mention to your friend that the FDA does not approve diets or UNapprove diets. So the diet is not unapproved either. This is the same situation with enzymes, and many other supplements, because they are regarded as a natural food. The FDA does not approve them or unapprove them. It is not something they handle. .
