I didn't go back to work until 8 weeks postop, and then I took things like string cheese and lunch meats. The hospital I work at has a pay-by-the-ounce salad bar, and I would get about a tablespoon of cottage cheese and a few beans, things like that. They sure did look at me funny, but it was great to pick and choose what I wanted. At three weeks, I ate even less, but needed to eat more often. I love the smallest snack size rubbermaid (I think it is rubbermaid) containers (clear with blue lids). Makes it easy to take cut up luncheon meats, cheese, etc., to work. Hope this helps, Dawna
Guest guest
Definately don't try to plan anything. Before surgery I just couldn't believe my taste would change as much as everyone said it would. But it's unbelievable. Things I loved before are barely palatable. Just get an item or two of things which will definately go down like yogurt, jello, creamed soups, popsicles, etc. And make sure everything is sugar free as the least bit of sweet is nausating for most people after surgery. Guest guest
Sharon, Have you discovered yet that apple juice is too strong tasting and too sweet? I had to dilute it post opt and still do. I also can not stand the taste of ice cream anymore! And our tastes seem to keep changing all the time too. I once loved tuna and now cant stand it. maybe I will love it again later? I almost know how a 2 yr old feels now when hes picky with foods! Hugs, Judie
