Guest guest
Signe, I have worked for the state of Arkansas for 12 Years now and I also do computer entry. I'm a night owl so I have never gotten much sleep. I'm 4'8. Yes I was real active as a kid. Since I've gotten older I guess I have become lazy. Its alot more fun to sit in front of the tv or computer than go exercise If you will email me I will send you a link to a website I found. Guest guest
Teri - what are your two jobs? You must not get much sleep. Ada is about 4ft 10 and only weighs 76lbs. For awhile she was over 80 lbs but she lost the weight and never gained it back (she was on Depo and that helped her gain that weight). How tall are you? Were you pretty active as a kid or are you just less active than you were. It is interesting to see that other RSS folks have this issue. I really hope to gain a better understanding of what this means for my daughter and I really appreciate your feedback. Signe
Guest guest
Hi Signe- To be honest, I have NO idea how or why my cholesterol went down15 points in the past year or two. I eat roughly the same way, with little red meat (beef once every 2 weeks, pork once a week), lots of chicken, and I try to add fish in there but I really don't LIKE seafood as much as other foods <wink>. I eat entirely too many sweets and have been known to scarf down my share of french fries. Wish I could be more helpful, but I honestly don't know why it originally went up, or now down. -Sharon- Just an RSS kid who grew up Orlando FL
Guest guest
Hi Ada, I'm currently in graduate school working on my PhD in neuroscience -- one day I hope to be a college professor...... My life has really been pretty typical so far. I'm married to a wonderful guy (6'1 " ) and as long as I have stepstools around, being short (4'8 " ) doesn't affect me most days (although I still hate clothes shopping -- luckily right now I can still wear jeans to work!) I'll be watching to see where this cholesterol discussion goes! thanks for bringing it up. -Ana
Guest guest
Hi Signe, I did a little research and also calle my son's ped. endo. As far as I can find out, a child with RSS should have the same cholesterol levels as non RSS children. Generally, adults should have the following Cholesterol < 200 LDL < 130 HDL 20 - 71 Triglycerides < 200 I did not get numbers for children but I suspect they should be lower. With that said, given that many of us feed our kids a high fat diet in order to get their weight up, I would not be surprised to see a high cholesterol level in many RSS children. If you can, I would contact a nutritionist and see if you can find some foods that will help her gain weight and help reeuce her cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and Tri g Levels. If you find this miracle food, please let the rest of us know about it. I hope this helps. Guest guest
My son nearly 18, has had raised cholesterol levels. He first started having his cholesterol checked when he was about 10 or 11. He has a pre existing cardiac condition that made this check necessary. The first few readings came back elevated. Soon after that, I changed his diet and tried to follow a modified version of the Heart Foundations diet as much as possible. For the last 5 years, he has been able to maintain his cholesterol readings within the normal range with this diet and exercise. But that may change as he gets older. ne > > Hello, > My daughter is quite a bit older than most of your children but i'm > hoping that someone can help me with this.
