Guest guest
Way to go ! He has made such huge strides and they just keep coming. Keep up the great work! A couple of months ago, we started lowering his daytime g-tube feeds, to accommodate the extra 70-100 oral calories we were getting in a day. Has anyone here, with a child with an oral aversion, ever just skipped the " Stages " of baby food, and gone straight to table food??? no longer has a feeding therapist, but when he did, she seemed to think that we needed to take this is slow easy steps, and that we needed to get him to eat stage 3 foods before we moved on to table food. Any ideas?? > > Thanks for letting me brag!! LOL > Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 3 yrs old, 23.5#, 32.8 " , G-Tube) > >
Guest guest
Hello, Congrats he ate pizza for you. na still will have stage 2vegatables in the jar. I have purreed them put them in a jar myself to try and trick her but no go. She would never eat more than a spoon ful of stage three and then give it back to me in her hand, tissue, etc... She also would eat pizza but just the thin crust. Still just thin crust. She still has had no meat however we try. She will be four January 5th and she is still smelling kissing the food and putting it down like the therapist told her to do. Which they meant eat however as slow as it goes she has added to her variety. Before it was yogart and pudding, now pizza, grilled cheese, and her favorite thing is garlic chips which she gets for dessert if she has her meal. Congrats again on the upgrade of texture!!! Guest guest
Hey Pat, I don't know what anyone else wrote, but Storm LOVED table food. (WHY?) Because it gave him some independence! He could use his hands and feed it to himself! I bet likes that too! Finger foods are the best!!!! Blessings and Happy new year! Guest guest
Way to GO! How exciting! Emerence hated step 3 stuff, she skipped to table food...I used to cook baby pastina in veggie or chicken broth. Easy to swallow. She actually loves food and eats but still doesn't quite grow the way I'd like! She still gets OT for feeding therapy but has gotten over the severe gagging any food used to cause (after cereal and pureed stuff). Avocado is high in fat - maybe he'd like that? In Chile (where my husband is from) they mush avocado up with oil and salt and put it on bread or crackers. Again, congrats! , mom to 5 and Emerence 22 mo SGA, poss mild RSS, FINALLY crossed into 19lb 19 lb 7 oz 28.5 " . > Hi Everyone!! > > As most of you know, is mostly g-tube fed. Guest guest
Dear Pat, is doing very well. He hasn't been to the doctor in quite some time so I have no idea what he weighs, other than to note that his little sister who is 12 months younger than he is much heavier. I haven't measured him lately either. I guess I should do that. He is well, though. We haven't had any major illnesses lately and he has been through several colds so perhaps we have gone past the time of getting desperately ill every time he catches a virus. I sure hope so! He is still a little, skinny kid but with some steady work at getting him to eat an extra snack and have a high cal drink before bed most nights, he has the most meat on his body that he has ever had. His tummy is even a little bit rounded rather than completely flat and his ribs are covered up a little bit. I still have to take up his pants....a lot....in the waist, but he looks a little better. He will be three in March and is wearing 24 month clothes because he needs the length. He is not showing any signs of growning out of them, yet. He is a happy, healthy child and I am grateful for it. How is doing. Thanks for asking! Conny \ > Hey Conny!! > > I totally agree with you!
