This sounds like the old " is vanilla extract safe " debate. Someone once

posted the official word that celiacs say that the process of making alcohol

for extracts would leave all gluten fragments behind, even if a gluten-based

grain was used. (Same is said of distilled vinegar.) It is 100% safe to

avoid these products, but using them is not terribly high-risk.
