Guest guest
This is so exciting! I just logged on and saw their picture! :0) how cool...ok, this will probably get a little lengthy... Eli and Gage were born March 23rd, 2007 at 35 wks gestation. They had A's and B's and stayed in the NICU for 12 days. They came home on Apnea monitors and meds for Apnea and reflux. I noticed Eli's head being a little odd in their 2 month pics. By 4 months, I brought it up to the pediatrician who said " it would round out on it's own once he starts sitting up " . Just before they were 6 mos, by chance, I ran into a mom at the mall with twins, one in a helmet, and began to ask questions. She told me about plagio and said Eli's head looked similar to her daughters... This is when the real story begins... After tirelessly researching online, I called the CT affiliate in the Woodlands, and made an appointment for a free eval. The LO diagnosed Eli with plagio, 10 mm assymetric, and Gage with Brachy... I'd also noticed the flatness of his head, but didn't know what a real problem it was. He also mentioned Eli's head tilting to the right. So, I brought this all to the pediatrician at their 6 month checkup. She made referrals for the bands and diagnosed Eli with torticollis...finally we were getting somewhere. We started aggressive PT for tort and continued until he was 13 mos old. Today it is completely resolved. yay! The boys were casted and got their DOC bands just after they turned 7 mos old. They wore them for 2.5 mos and saw good correction. Eli went down to 5mm assymteric and Gage's head went from being 4mm wider than it was long to being 5mm longer than it was wide. His cephalic index still calculated high, but we all agreed that they both looked so much better. The LO told us we probably wouldn't get much more correction out of their bands, so we graduated them at that time. Since then, I have gone back and forth about that decision. Recently I found out about CST, and I contacted a DO in my area. We should begin OST treatments in a few weeks. I'm very excited to see what results may yield. Even if they don't make physical changes, I know there are a lot of other benefits to this technique. This group has been such a blessing to me. In those moments when I felt so overwhelmed with guilt and frustrated and bogged down by endless appointments, I got comfort in reading that I wasn't alone. All along I have stayed connected with other moms in similar situations and it's been a real source of strength. Thank you all for doing what you do. There aren't really words to describe how appreciative I truly am...I get all teared up just thinking about it... Here is a link to a video montage I made commemorating the whole first year... I hope it works... http://www.onetruemedia.com/shared? p=5863c4704f0ba20a274dc9 & skin_id=601 & utm_source=otm & utm_medium=text_ur l Thanks so much, Shenelle Katy, TX > > Hi Everyone- > Please welcome our newest Front Page Stars...ELI and GAGE!
