Guest guest
>>> I'm a little confused on the enzymes. 's nutritionist says she doesn't believe enzymes should be used for infractions & that they don't work that way. She recommended Alka Seltzer Gold (which I won't use - he wouldn't drink it anyway) & charcoal. > > This confuses me a bit because it seems many people use enzymes for > infractions on the list & can account that it works. True? Your nutritionist is correct in that most enzymes will not help with the gluten/casein/soy peptide issue. However, there are newer enzyme products out that they may not be aware of. There is only a handful of enzyme products that are specifically formulated to break down the gluten/casein peptides. These products are working remarkably well for most people. I have used Peptizyde for 6 months now and it has been great. In fact, starting the in the 5th month, my older-who- reacts-to-everything-even-if-he-just-looks-at-it son has had several casein infractions without enzymes and showed no reaction at all. I take it to signal gut healing (or something is getting healed). We take one Peptizyde and one Zyme Prime at the beginning of each meal. If the enzymes are in a veggie capsule that you swallow, allow about 30 minutes before eating to ensure that the veggie capsule is completely dissolved. We also take 2 or 3 Peptizydes inbetween meals because proteases are known to have blood cleansing and detox properties. My younger son has bowel problems and this helps to keep his gut and constipation cleared out. However, you can also just take them with any food for general digestion, gut health and immune system support. From the 6 months on the enzyme board, parents have seen very noticeable improvements with their children whether they take enzymes on a restrictive diet or not, or any variation inbetween. > Also, if you use charcoal, how do you get that into them? I have not tried the charcoal but a mom recently posted that she did to assist with die-off and it seems to help a great deal. She said she mixed it in water which looked blackish but doesn't seem to have any taste. That is good to know. Dr. Houston commented that charcoal is a very good binder, including binding up peptides in the gut. So this may work for accidents as well, but maybe not if the food has digested for awhile. . Guest guest
I tried SerenAid and the GFCF diet for all three of my gfcf kids (only one of whom has autism) for several months when SerenAid first came on the market. (Was that one year ago, or two?) I saw improvments, but nothing spectacular enough to continue that kind of expense for every food ingested for three kids. I am expecting to try another trial for at least the one with autism, who has a problem with fats, too. The new generation of digestive enzymes is more complete and doesn't stop at just helping digest proteins. As for the expense, well medical professionals get a whopping discount, so if you have relatives or close friends in the field, who want to help you, you might suggest a very nice present they could give you.... Guest guest
Hello Again, I just spoke with Pam from GI ProHealth and she said to start him with 1/4 to 1/2 of a capsule a day of the Prozymes and go slow to build him up. So that is what I am going to do in that area. I always seem to take things a little to fast, Anxious I guess. Thanks for any suggestions. Hinojosa 3yr old boy, ASD, Began SCD Feb 14, 2007 Enzymes Hello, I sprinkled a capsule of prozyme from Kirkman's on Benito's food today and 1.5 hrs later he was very aggressive and hyper. He has had nothing different or new. Just the enzymes. Do I have to give him enzymes for his yeast or should I just be patient and wait for SCD work? I was reading in the posts about Candex etc. I still don't fully understand what enzymes for what food. But...I know they do not agree with Benito. He is doing great with the carrot juice and garlic, 1/4 tsp goat yogurt, and 2 scdopholus' a day. His poop is still completely unformed and a little gritty but brown not green. Guest guest
Today Benito had one poop, the description is easy....canned chili. The yellowish kind. Today, I sprinkled 1/4 of the contents of the capsule of prozyme and he seemed fine. I hate to say it but I think the goat yogurt is the culprit. He is very hyper and aggressive and runs into things including me.....he gave his father a black eye with a head butt......and by the way...this is no accident on my son's part. The only thing I can think of since the poops became loose and diarrhea started and the aggression started up again is since I have had him on the goat yogurt. I have removed everything else. The yogurt is the one common denominator. It just kills me cause I know that stuff can help but I guess not yet. Thanks for any suggestions or comments. We can use all we can get.
