Guest guest
Congratulations, your posts have been very helpful and inspirational to everyone on the list. Thank you, glad to hear life is going well ;-), Debbie 41cd Today I've been on SCD one year and I wanted to thank everyone here who helped me along the way. A little over a year ago I went from being a busy active mom to lying on the couch with D and overmedicated and miserable. Inflammation was detected on colonoscopy and the GI diagnosed me with " mild UC " . I cried a lot because I was missing out on so much. My daughter played soccer and I missed all of her games. I got so much more out of this group besides learning to do SCD. I got support and advice and I did not feel alone anymore. Like everyone here I spent hours in the kitchen trying to learn a new way to cook and eat, and money replacing my spices and getting new gadgets like yogurt makers. Recently I have been so busy. I've been out to dinner with my husband and friends (I've found some " safe " restaurants that cook legal food). I've visited my kids at college (cooler full of food in tow). I haven't spent hours in the kitchen because I've been so busy but I've found I can grill some meat or fish and steam vegetables in little time, or just scramble some eggs if I am in a hurry. I religiously make my yogurt which has become routine. For my recent birthday my husband bought me a new bicycle. This is because I feel I now have my life back. Thanks to SCD and everyone here. It may not be " normal " to be on a restricted diet and carry a cooler on trips...but life feels " normal " again. What was not normal was lying on the couch feeling sick. I know it is frustrating to give up foods, spend lots of time cooking, but that has been so worth it to me to feel better. I just wanted to thank everyone here and say that it is so worth it, all of it. I still take sulfasazine and LDN, but I credit SCD for helping me the most. And that is why I started this group in the first place, so that people could find help, find companionship in their healing journey, and regain " normal. " <g> BTW, I carried food with me when I traveled even before SCD because it was cheaper. Now I just carry different food! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
