Guest guest
Hi I recall reading somewhere that SCD and similar diets are quite low residue, meaning that there is not a lot of waste to excrete. Sorry, I can't remember where it was, but it was a few years back when I first started SCD. (Maybe on the Healing Crow website?) I know that when I go back on the intro diet, I don't go for days at a time, up to a week. I don't think this is a negative situation, if you are not in pain and your symptoms are not getting worse. I think it works in favour of your body's healing by not having quite as much material shifting through damaged, irritated gut when what it needs most of all is a rest. You sound as if you are paying close attention to what is happening to your body, and besides not going, it sounds as if you are improving. Hope that continues! Guest guest
, Are you willing to try an enema? Jodi > > > > I went back to the intro diet and have been on the intro for 2 days. I was going to start adding foods tomorrow. I am starving and had about 1/2 cup left of yogurt. I was reading through the intro diet and Elaine talked about the cheesecake. I remembered I had a little bit of yogurt left and ate it. Then as I was eating my last bit I thought about conversations from the group about introducing yogurt in a tiny bit at a time. Do you think that's ok or should I do another day of intro? > > > > Speaking of coming off the intro...do you think it's ok to eat salmon? I'm going to start with butternut squash. I really want avocados but I can wait. They're stage 2. But there is no listing for salmon. Thanks! > > > > michelle > > >
Guest guest
Thank you Marilyn, for actually saying what I meant to say! My intention was to say that the intro diet is usually quite low residue (and I still can't remember where I came across this reference - I read it a few years back when I first started the SCD), but it was quite late, I was very tired and I'm in the depths of a cold, so its all slightly foggy at the moment. I meant to address 's concern about not seeing any movement for a few days while starting the diet, and to reassure her that, if all else was well, that it was not a cause for concern. Ten days for you - wow! I wanted to share the idea I have that, although we are pressed to believe that we must have regular (i.e., daily) bowel movements, and that something is wrong with us if we don't, that not everyone conforms to that health profile, and that for many, particularly those trying to change their intestinal health (especially through diet), that there can be a time of readjustment of many different aspects, including BMs. It scares a lot of us at first when nothing appears for day after day, after day, after day, especially after having taken up residence in the bathroom day and night, watching ourselves deteriorate. And yes, regular BMs are possible on SCD, even after a lifetime of anything but. So thank you Marilyn, and courage - we're all on a long journey with many twists, but ultimately worth every step.
