Guest guest
Hi, my 15 year old had done albuterol, dnase, and tobi many different ways and timt-tables. he is seen at Duke. The ped, pulm. seems to think that the only big no-no is mixing dnase and tobi in the same vial. Everything else we fit into our schedule at our pace--we've never been told one has to be done with the other. Hope this helps. Guest guest
We do Albuteral, then we do Pulmozyme, then we do Vest and then we do TOBi. In the morning we do it all while she is asleep. Yes she sleeps through the vest. My husband and I get up at 5:30 am and it takes about an hour to do all of it. Then after school at 2:30 we just do albuteral then vest. At bedtime we do Albuteral, Vest then TOBI.We really enjoy the days she is off TOBI.
Guest guest
one note; some of the inhaled medications (tobi and pulmozyme included) can cause bronchoconstriction (or, as our clinic nurse explained, " twitchy lungs " ), so albuterol or other bronchodilators are prescribed to be used immediately beforehand. So, even for those who do not usually need bronchodilators, they may be needed immediately prior to Tobi treatments. Check with your physician, though, because I'm no doctor, either. You are right, of course about asking. Levi was on Zantac for a really long time until I asked if it was still needed, and lo and behold, it wasn't. ~ > So maybe a good inhalation of TOBI might work for those with light growth of > pseudomonas and no problems with mucus production. Why give a child something they don't need or benefit from that can cause harm or take time away from other things when its not needed? Rosemary in NY with 3 children (13, 11 and 7) with CF.
