I have to agree with the response to your question that said it takes

four weeks. That was my experience with my first challenge.

HOWEVER, that said, I FELT fabulous almost immediately! ;o) And

since I just started my second challenge I am not expecting to see

results for four weeks, but am revelling in how great I feel right

now at having taken back my life and started the journey again! And,

I can't believe how much more energy I have. I missed that ;o)

Good luck,

Sandy

I saw some nice changes by week 4 (about 1.5 " in waist and hips).

Then progressed slowed a bit until about week 8 and then picked up

again.

I know that every child is different, but I'm wondering when you might

see results in an older child's case. It's so frustrating to hear on

here (don't get me wrong, I'm so happy for them) that a child is

showing results at 2 weeks. My daughter is 15 months and has been

wearing the star band for almost 3 weeks. I know I'm not going to see

as good of results as a younger child. If there is some one who has a

older child, could you please give me some feedback? Thank you so much!

My son is nearly 14 months and he is 6 days into his 2nd DOCBand. It's true the head grows slower now, but I feel that my baby is still within the realm of treatment. I'll be crossing my fingers for both of our babies.

Kristi,

Our son Samson was right around 15 months of age when his Doc

Band treatments started. We have seen great results! In fact,

enough that we went forward with a second band. He is done with the

second band in about a month, just before his two year old birthday! In

speaking with a bunch of different families, it seems to make a huge difference

if you are very diligent in keeping the band on at all times. While there

is less growth with the older kids, the head is still growing at all times.

Will post some pictures when Sam is done. You will not believe your

eyes! My advice would be to go for it and don’t look back.

Good luck - Chris

Hi Kristi,

I am sure will respond to this post. Her son had excellent

results- and I am sure your daughter will too. Are they going to scan

her at her visits? I feel the same way-happy for others but longed to

see those kind of results for my son. Zach is 13 months and has been

wearing the Starband for 3 months. We have seen really good results-

http://www.dropshots.com/krogers1579 but have had our orthotist and

pedi tell us that our results would have been quicker if we would have

banded earlier. The way I look at it is I am glad that we banded-

period. Hang in there- you may not see the numbers drop dramatically-

we didn't, but over 3 months he has gone from 19 mm plagio to 13.8 mm

plagio. From severe to moderate- it was gradual- but still progress

just the same.

All the best,

Kristy

Hi Kristi-

My son started wearing his DOCBand at 17 months old and I noticed a

small spot pop out on the edge of his flat spot in the first week. I'm

talking like a dime size bump, maybe even smaller. I had the feel of

his head memorized and I just remember running my hand over his head

thinking, wait, that feels different right there. It was defitely not

something I would have just noticed with my eyes. I was happy though

when the therapist at CT ackowledged the same spot at our one-week

checkup (only after totally flattening his hair down and comparing him

to his beginning exit mold). I don't think it could have been captured

in a photo.

I think with younger babies, you see bigger areas of improvement all

at once. With my son at least, there was improvement nearly each week,

but just in very small areas, which was still encouraging to me.

Instead of his flat spot seemingly popping out all at once (like some

younger babies seem to do), his started popping out around the edges

first, gradually making it appear smaller.

So I wouldn't get discouraged yet. Three weeks is still early in the

game. The biggest cumulative improvement between 3 week adjustments

for us happened around the 3-month mark or so. His forehead really

seemed to make a big improvement in one small span of time, I assume

because he had a small growth spurt.

Hang in there!

Hi Chris-

I was actually going to ask you yesterday to definitely post some

before and after photos of Samson. My son wore 2 DOCBands beginning

at age 17 months, his photos are in the J folder under Jake W. if

you haven't seen them yet. Can't wait to see yours!

Thank you everyone for the positive feedback. Part of the reason I am

so worried is because it doesn't seem like our orthodist does alot of

plagio work. It's not an actual helmet place of business. It seems

like he does more legs, arm, etc. We never got a mm title or a scan

done. The pics he took of her, he apparently lost and only has some

of her the day she put her helmet on for the first time. I luckily

took pics to compare, but am not really sure what to do. There isn't

anywhere else that does this type of care in the area that I'm aware

of. I can't complain, because he gave us a kickass deal on the helmet

because we didn't have insurance, but.... I just don't know what to

do. Are we supposed to ask for the mm and scan?? Please help!!!
