A reservoir is a container for liquid oxygen. It's what we hook directly

to indoors and also refill our portables from. A 50 lb. reservoir

(generally 75 or larger are used indoors) will fit in most cars, just

buckled in the seat.

something that would fit in a typical sedan or is it better suited for a

van? Any other info would be appreciated. I'm just always looking for

ways to not feel so isolated and attached to my leash.

You will need to double check to make sure you can hook directly to the resevoir. During the brief time I was on liquid oxygen it was for being away from home only. It was not possible with the resevoir that I was given to hook into it while I was at home. I continued to use the concentrator while I was here.

The provider that I was with at the time did not have the type of resevoir to which I could directly connect my canulla. So if you don't see a place where you can hook up your cannula, call your provider and ask them if they can provide you with that.

The must have regulators on them to hook directly. Many suppliers prefer

to put you on a concentrator as opposed to hooking to the reservoir.

Saves them money, costs you.

Then that makes sense. They are only supplying you liquid for portable

and don't have to refill as often or provide as much. Makes their job

easier. To me a bit illogical to have a reservoir and be using liquid

part of the time and still have to spend the money on electricity for

the concentrator. But, it is a common way they often set people up.

Bruce,

Trust me the resevoir they brought me had no regulator on it. After looking at it myself I asked the delivery man and then confirmed with the manager at the office. This particular company does not supply liquid O2 for stationary use, only to fill the portables. So when I had the liquid resevoir they also supplied me with a concentrator for stationary use. This company also only supplied the smallest Helios unit which made it useless for me. After a month I sent it back and went back to E tanks. This among other issues is why I switched providers a couple of months ago.

I guess if i want a small resevoir for travel, i would have to call the lincare manager

the local lincare -- my supplier -- does not fill their own resevoirs -- they get them filled someplace else -- don't know where

Adrienne, My liquid reservoir is about 3 ft tall and in my hall closet.I actually have 2 of them. They make one that is half sized just for the back seat of a car. It lasts about 3-4 days andis lent as needed by my provider. He fills it and puts it in the seat belt.If I were to travel a distance...I' d need other providers to refill after the 3-4 days. Your O2guy will be able to set it up with providers in other areas.I use my larger (R2D2) to refill the Helios for when I go out out of the house. You'd do the same with the smaller "week-ender" if you're on a trip. We have gone away for week-ends and the hotels always get the O2 out of the car and into the room for us. No problems at all.
