Guest guest
Ross has been on the diet for 1 month now. We are 99.9% sure he is not getting any G & C from home. I was wondering what are the hidden G & C? Such as shampoo, detergent, things at school. We use colgate toothpaste, but do I have to wash his clothes, hair, and body in a special soap? Do I need to wash my hands after I touch wheat, before I touch him or his food? Thanks so much, Loren Loren Van De Griek mommy to - 6yrs, Ross - 4 yrs(ASD), Seth - 22 months Hickory, NC " the harder the struggle, the greater the victory " Shop for great Kay products with me online at: www.marykay.com/lvandegriek
Guest guest
Loren Being 99.9% sure about being G & C free (in my experience) is like being 99.9% sure you are either pregnant or not pregnant Sorry to be blunt and I hope to not offend (but that is just me I guess) but I went 5 mos. being 99.9% sure and wasted in essence my efforts because gluten WAS sneaking in (via sunscreen.) What I did to be sure was to a) Live on the www.gfcfdiet.com site and buy the non-food products listed on this site Watched out for infringements (see attachment Diet Infringements.htm) On a side note, I do not wear certain lipsticks or cremes that have gluten. When family members are around, I make sure they wash their hands. Gluten is a pain in the butt. I want you to be successful. I want your child to have the benefit of the diet. It is the hardest thing I have done for my son but the one task that has yielded the most success for Jeff. Please check the GF CF diet list for non-food items and see what is good to use. Guest guest
Hi, I thought I replied to this but my email doesn't say I did so if this is a repeat answer - sorry. Yes, you have to avoid ALL gluten and that does mean in shampoos and all. I use & s hypoallergenic head-to-toe baby wash for LJs shampoo and Dove soap for his skin. For toothpaste I use Childrens Tooth Gel from Weleda which also has no flouride. Laundry, dishes and general cleaning I use the Sun & Earth products which Miss Robens carries (they are allnatural, no chemiacals and work great - smell delicious too). You have to definetly wash your hands as you mentioned if you were eating and touching No No foods. Cross contamination, even just a little, is an important issue with this diet.
