Guest guest
P5P stands for peridoxile 5 phosphate. This is the " active " form of B6 and for some children this form works better. Unlike normal B6 - P5P does not require metabolization by the liver. For some children this form is better. You also need less of P5P than B6. 50 mg of P5P is equal to about 300 mg of B6. Always begin with small doses. Add more magnesium if the child is hyperactive. We are open on monday. The WEB site has pretty complete info. Guest guest
Thank you for your reply. My concern is that by taking P5P along with regular Super Nu-Thera my son is getting too much Vitamin B-6. It sounds like the P5P capsule is suppose to be taken in lieu of Super Nu-Thera, not in conjunction with it. Is this true? Guest guest
Yes, Dawn, I beleive you are correct. The following article is from the Kirkman website regarding SNT w/P5P: This is a new version of the Super Nu-Thera formula. This new formula is based on a " activated " B6 called Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate or P5P. P5P is at least 3 times more effective in our systems than the normal vitamin B6 and there is some evidence it is ten times more effective. It is also ultra fine so children will not feel that it is " gritty " and tastes great. P5P is the activated form of B6. When we take normal B6, our livers convert B6 into P5P and only then is the P5P is used by our body. For those autistic individuals that cannot effectively convert B6 into P5P this is a preferred product. We recommend that first time users start with the original formula. *************************************** Debbie:) > > Thank you for your reply.
