We're all testing this coming Thursday; my daughter for blue, wife and I for red belts. Our son is dying to start and hopefully when he's in first grade which is the normal starting age at the school he will. Our 6 yr old daughter is into gymnastics instead. Anyway, we go to a Tang Soo Do school and the progression is white/yellow/green/blue/brown/red/black with a variety of intermediate steps. For example our daughter is currently a green belt with a blue tip while my wife and I have red belts with white stripes, called deputy red. I think this is a tremendous accomplishment, kudos to your son. No it doesn't make him ready to hold his own against Chuck Norris, but it does indicate concentration, stamina, hard work and respect for others. And let him know from me if you care to that it keeps getting cooler as he continues.
