today is a much better day, the color is coming back in her, she ate 3

chocolate sticks, some angel hair pasta, and a sandwich from the

sandwich maker, she is drinking really sweet tea because i thought she

could use the extra sugar LOL her doctor called today and her blood

glucose id fine, she has a trace of ketones in her urine so i am

trying to push fluid in her and some kind of food, but she is much

better today..i called the G.I. every hour on the hour and left

messages for them to call me back, hopefully they will get tired of me

calling and get me an appointment within hte next couple of months!!!!

Steph,

That is great news and I am so glad that she is eating a little

more. Try to keep getting her to take in the fluids and eat as often

as possible. Leave snacks out for her that she likes that she can

grab and nibble on maybe. Keep up with the GI phone calls! :o)

, I'm at a loss for words. It's inconceivable sometimes

the difficulties and stresses we must face. In light of your

situation, do know that we all care for you, will pray for you, and

that we will think of you daily.

And by the way - please do not feel you need to apologize. That's

what we are here for. I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to share

your thoughts.

You didn't mention how you were coping with all this - but, you seem

to be handling things well. Please feel free to talk more if you

need to. If you have a church nearby - sometimes they will offer

babysitting for those last minute interviews or even for when you

need a little bit of time with your husband to talk about next

steps. My husband lost his job last November and it was a very

humiliating feeling - even though he didn't want to admit it. He

had been with the same company for 18 years and I think he was very

comfortable with his surroundings. When all that changed - he was

lost and unsure of himself - he didn't admit that either. On the

positive side - things do get better. We actually grew closer than

we have ever been because we took the opportunity to spend quality

time with each other when normally when he would work we had NO time

together - ever. I also put all my anxieties about the situation,

fears, concerns and sadness aside and put all my energies into my

husband. I reminded him EVERY day how proud of him I was, how

intelligent and smart he was, how much I believed emphatically that

I was not worried about him finding a job, and supported his needs

to be at the library, read a book by himself or even just take a

ride in the car alone - because I realized that focusing all my

efforts on him gave him comfort and the security that he needed.

After he found a job in a different state and we moved from our

comfort zone - that's when I realized that all my support gave us

the grounding to our relationship that we probably needed for the

last 9 years! Even though we have always been incredibly happy

(well almost always :)) - it was a lesson that was well learned in

that men really need support from their wives no matter where they

are in life.

Sorry, I'm rambling - just more meanderings. Bad habit - my

tangents!

I hope some of what I have said helps though. The job thing is such

an incredible stressor in life and I can certainly relate to your

situation.

As far as Kyla goes. I'm so sorry to hear of all her dealings with

meds and boils! Ugh - so frustrating. My heart poors out to you.

You are an amazing mom though. You are handling this so well. I

must have missed the boil conversation - is this normal with RSS

children? How is Kyla handling all this? Is she sick on the meds?

Sounds like she could use lots of hugs - we'll send some her way

today.

Good luck with the potty training thing. My non RSS son refused to

even consider it. My peds kept telling me to wait until he was 3

1/2. I of course didn't listen and kept trying with no avail.

Finally, I gave up. Would you believe - exactly at 3 1/2 months I

was looking for him one day and found him peeing on the potty?

Would you believe he's never peed in his pants and always uses the

potty now? I hate admitting when the docs are right! :)

Take care - we will think of you often.

I was going to write you today, after I spent a while talking with

my son's best friend's mom yesterday. Her 3 year old daughter had

repeated boils -- turns out after seeing numerous doctors and

finally a infectious disease doctor at the children's hospital - it

is the horrible staph infection that is going around the US.

She was trying to explain it to me that they think her daughter has

a bacteria in her body, and it just keeps " coming out. " They have

caught it each time early enough before she has had to have IV

antibiotics. But that they are considering putting her in the

hospital for a week for IV antibiotics to try and rid her of it for

once and for all....

But it all started with these boils she kept getting.... so it made

me think of you. Turns out that numerous kids in our community have

gotten it -- some in high school were in the hospital. And it is

very contagious. UGH!

I wish you the best!
