Flair. it is very bad. urgency and blood. Could two little capsules do this to me? i am back on the Intro diet now and am wondering how long till i should see improvement? Any experienced SCD comments and encouragement would be so appreciated... Have i undone all the hard work i have done over the past year thanks for listening... , Alas, the so-called " inactive " ingredients in non-compounded meds can cause flares. Been there, and done that -- the one thing I forgot to check when arranging for my cancer surgery was inactives in the pain medication. You have an advantage i didn't have: you only had one dose. I was on the meds for several months. Keep in mind that the inactive ingredients in many medications are Grade A bacteria food. Here you've been, starving those bacteria out, and all of a sudden, you handed them a smorgasboard. They have gone to town, chowing down and reproducing, and that's why you're having a flare. You did absolutely the right thing by going to the intro diet. You're going to have to starve those little buggers out again -- and because the remaining ones were the hardy types who had survived your year of starving them, they're going to be more difficult than the first round to get rid of. You have not undone all your hard work -- but this is going to be a set back. Chin up. You made it this far. You can keep on knocking the bad bacteria upside their cell membranes! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Hi Marilyn There was a mention in here of the strong little bastards invading our colon and hard to get rid of. Was doing some reading on Cure for all Diseases by Hulda , and she goes into taking Walnut Tincture, Cloves and Wormwood to kill them. Have you done any reading on this and would this be in compliance with Elaine's regime. Thanks for your help Marilyn

The blood is scary, but it has been my usual sym ptom for many years. Two years ago i ended up in the hospital for a week. Dont want to go there again so i did put a call in to my GI Dr. Do you think i should go on any meds to stop the flare? or do you think the intro diet will do it? These buggers do seem aweful strong. how long should i wait it out? Thanks so much for any encouragement.... , First, I'm glad you put in a call to your doctor. Whether or not you need meds -- that's something I can't advise you on because I'm not a doctor. Keep in mind that Elaine said that sometimes meds are necessary to get you over this hump or that. If you do need meds for a time, it does not, by any means, indicate that you have " wasted your time " or " ruined at your hard work. " It's a set back. These things happen on our healing journeys. Three steps forward and two steps back, and three steps forward and two steps back... This flare is a hump. If you need the meds, get them. Don't wait about seeing your doctor. Don't feel guilty about needing them. Feel better -- keep on with basic foods, and then work on improving your range of foods and getting off the meds again. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
,If the bleeding is bright red, it is lower down the colon/closer to the rectum. If this is the case, then you might have success with suppositories (steroid or asacol type) and can avoid consuming illegals orally. When returning to the intro, I would look for even small semi consistent improvements within a week to 10 days. If you aren't seeing those, I would definitely start medication. I would also start medication right away if it is getting worse.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Wed, May 12, 2010 7:07:18 PMSubject: Re: Flair! need encouragement.. Take the meds if you need them. Don't let this get so out of hand that you do end up hospitalized. It is important to stop the bleeding and not let it go on for long. It is always good to take the medicine that will do the job with the least amount of side effects.
