Would one week of GFCF be enough? A family I work with has a little

, there are coconut milk and rice milk substitutes, besides soy.

Also, labels are more tricky than one thinks, G and C are hidden

under funny names, like MSG and Modified food starch (that if it is

not specified being from corn, it is from wheat). Plus the child

could have an intolerance to other things, like apples or some fruits

or colored veggies etc.

Another thing to look at, is the soy milk sub. It was said that soy

has the same amount of peptides of casein and gluten. If this is the

reason to avoid C and G, then I would try and stay away from soy too,

and see how it goes (that means margarine too etc.)

And overall, it takes only five days for your body to get rid of

casein, but the withdrawal may be longer; and gluten takes even

longer, so I am thinking a week it is not even close to be enough, it

is just the beginning. I thing it may take up to nine months to get

rid of gluten. At first, benefits of the diet are overcome by the

witdrawal symptoms from the " bad " foods. So one may not see any

improvements at all, and actually it may look like it gets worse

only. But it does get better, so I would try it for at list three

months or even more.

my son has been on it for about six months, of which about the last

four very strictly. If not taken seriously, you will not see results

at all. And sometimes, there are up and downs anyway, and you just

have to keep at it, b/c you believe it works, despite the fact that

the child doesn't seem to benefit at all in that time frame.

Hope this gives you an idea... Hugs, Cristina-WA

No way only 1 week is not enough. It takes a long time for all

casein and gluten to get out of the body ( casein longer If I can recall 6

months ). Yes, my son is also intolerante to soy and when I give him a little

soy here and there his bum turns a bright red.
