I'm in Houston so it may be very different up there.

I had to see a nutritionist pre-SCD.  She didn't know what crohn's disease was and spent half the time explaining it to me.  She had me on four biscuits, baked turkey, fish and chicken.  She counted grape jelly and honey as fruit servings.  I had to drink 3-4 cans of Ensure per day (which I couldn't afford so I was eating a lot of baked rice, potatoes and mac n cheese).  I just kept getting worse.

But all this lead me to SCD in the end.  If you can find someone who is even halfway interested in hearing about SCD then I think it would really be great to have someone help you tailor it specifically to you.  In the beginning, it seems especially hard to find foods you can tolerate since you won't know until you try them.  At least they should be aware of what fruits/vegetables belong to each family so if one bothers you--avoid all others.  As you heal, you may be able to eat them later.

Maybe someone who has had a positive SCD experience can help you.  They must be in short supply ;-).
