Guest guest
Beth When you get home, curious as to how the two walks compared. My experience would be with same flow the continuous would win but can often make up the difference by turning the conserver up one liter. But it would vary with every individual. In some cases tests have been done to show no difference but on low flow people mostly. Sometimes with my sinuses, continuous is my only choice. > > Hi everyone, > The RT from my new O2 company was just here. We did 2 six minute walks, one with continuous flow and one with a conserver. And in about 40 minutes I have to leave to go to rehab. I'm tired already!! > Hope everyone has a good day!! > > Beth > Moderator > Fibrotic NSIP 06/06 Dermatomyositis 11/08 >
Guest guest
Bruce, On continuous 4 liters kept me right around 94, on conserve it took 5 to do the same thing. That's of course with a 'demand' conserver that gives a much bigger bolus of oxygen on the inhale. With the Chad Bonsai conserver I need 7 on conserve to keep me at 94-95. It gives a shorter hit of oxygen when I inhale. The flip side of that is the tank lasts much longer. It's really a matter of what you want these things to do. As you know I've been at this for over 3 years and I'm still trying to figure out what works best in any given situation. One of the RT's from my new company says there are a couple of new things, 'real innovations' coming out this fall. She hasn't said more than that because she's not sure Family Medical will be able to spring for them but she says she'll call me when she knows for sure. I'm curious but skeptical.
