E-Border Health The United States-México Border Health Commission (BHC) wishes to share this white paper, Health Research on the U.S.-México Border: Promoting a Binational Agenda. This white paper outlines key considerations in the development of a binational border health research agenda, current gaps in border health research, and the need to translate research into policies and effective health interventions. BACKGROUND For many years governmental agencies, research institutions, and healthcare professionals along the U.S.-México border have asserted the need for a border health research agenda. While quality research takes place in many health areas, a consolidated research agenda with identified priorities would produce information to assist in the decision-making process and direct the provision of health programs. This paper further highlights the important relationship between research and policy development and the role they play in improving health along the U.S.-México border. This white paper may be of interest to border health partners and others in the United States-México border region.
