Guest guest
To Bruce ,Sher and all my American friends sufferers of the disease. I have read these e mails from most of you talking about financial ruin and over prescription drugs and having Insurance coverage. Our Canadian medical system is under stress as well financially and God knows we have many problems as well but I have had IPF since 2003 and other than making sure I drive to all my appointments my medical costs have been covered except for a couple of blood tests which were not covered by the Provincial Plan but my Insurance from work covered them. As far as Prescription Drugs go my Drug costs which are covered from my work since I am on disability are paid for but for a token $2.00 per prescription cost. If you ask for Brand name prescription then you have to pay for up to 20 % of the prescription in some cases but generic drugs are the nominal fee. I have been on Hospice care since Dec 2008 and under the catastrophic illness plan all my prescription costs are covered. I came to Canada in 1969 form England where we also had socialized medicine as some of you American folks refer to but thank God for our health care system I am not facing financial ruin and additional stress as to how will I make ends meet. I also see how a lot of you folks and I will not get into politics are opposed to Obama's health care suggestions and recommendations. No systems in the world is going to get every situation covered but folks you do need a health care system that does not look at your pocket and your social status but provides you with health care regardless of who you are. By the way I was born in Kenya of Indian parents and am so proud to know that Obama's father was from a place where my brother was born. Also my son was so impressed with Candidate Obama that he now works in Washington for the Transportation Secretary. I hope I have not stepped on any toes since as a Canadian I am really proud that our forefathers had foresight to have a system in place that helps the sick survive the sickness and do not have to worry about financial ruin. I do not know How I would be able to cope. To all my American friends good luck and God Bless.
