Guest guest
I totally agree that living somewhere you like is way better than dpoing the Tourist thing...there are lots of places I've visited that I'd dearly love to spend a whole year in the get a proper 'feel' for the place, it's people/animals/ plant life etc. Then of course I also want all that time BACK when I get home so I don't miss out on anything here as well! That's why Armchair Travel has its compensations! Cheers, GIO >> I've been to the Grand Canyon twice. Once during the summer-at the South Rim and it was very hot and dry, and once at the North Rim in the fall and it was cold and rainy.> It is hard to describe, other than to say it will take your breathe away. It's so vast and colorful. I would like to go back and walk on that glass walkway that extends over the canyon and I always wanted to raft down the river.> > We did a family vacation out West over 6 or 7 weeks. Our children were 12,7, and 3. By the time we got to the Grand Canyon our kids were getting used to the whole tourist experience. So much so that my twelve year old decided to dash over to the first tour tram at the Canyon and off he went. We were separated from him all day. We never caught up with him until the end of the day at the place where we parked in the morning. And ,of course we were scared silly. By the time we caught up with him there were hugs then the usual "don't you EVER do that again!" speech. > It amazes me how easily one could tumble over the edge. Guest guest
mmmm...I get to spend a month down in cool Tassie every Summer..apart from the thrill of getting to stay with my daughter & grand-daughter I DO love the break from the Heat & Humidity of Northern NSW. I also like to get down there to experience a dollop of their Winter Chill..I wish it was as simple as walking through a Magic Time Door (as in the Narnia Stories) Where is the weather the mildest & least extreme in the USA...am I right in thinking it would be either oregon/Washington State in the West or the North Eastern States on the other side????? Cheers, > >> > I've been to the Grand Canyon twice. Guest guest
Here's a beaudie for ya..Woolgoolga....a small beach town just south of my hometown of Grafton. (Grafton is famed for its Jacaranda Trees & it's Big River where I sailed as a kid) It's a favourite spot to stop on our way to Sydney 'cos there is a long established Sikh community there with great Indian Tukka on offer. Of course Byron Bay ,where my father grew up, is now a renowned Backpacker Destination/ Smart Set Celeb Destination. There is quite a large American ex-pat population here as well. Business folk who work via the Internet & onl;y travel back to the States occasionally. Freelance Journalists are the other group who can live here....check out why they love it so much. Have Fun, SGIO > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > I've been to the Grand Canyon twice. Guest guest
i forget the term applied to the mid atlantic states where the cities blend together, you know when you are out of a city because of the signs -- unlike other places where each city surrounded by land here you drive from one city into the next city Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Yellowstone National ParkTo: Breathe-Support Date: Friday, October 9, 2009, 9:35 PM Yeah I discovered that yesterday with the help of Mr Google...trust Dolly..she's a smartv li'l vixen aint she just! You know one of the things that's hard for me to get my head around in the Maps of the Eastern States is ..it looks so darned CROWDED... I'm used to donkey's miles of spare ground between towns here in Oz..except in the built up City areas! Cripes.....we only have a few of THOSE! I Do like to be able to Feel the EDGE of the Town I live in...big enough to be interesting & culturally diverse BUT small enough to 'know' the perimeter & the green zone/farmland to be 'at hand'!
