Guest guest
I apologize in advance for my current stand, but must take issue with something I have been reading. I feel that when one chooses to have the DS they take on a life long committment to stringently follow their supplementation as well as take their labs routinely. I know how easy it is to become complacent, get busy, let life interfere, or just plain fall back into laziness. However, boys and girls, when you do not take the appropriate vitamins and minerals, and you do not have routine lab work, you make the DS surgery statistically more risky and impact those of us who have not had the surgery in terms of dealing with our insurance companies. Non compliance impacts a whole hell of a lot more than just YOUR health. There are people out here fighting for their lives and their health and every statistic that shows DS as being more risky with side affects of malnutrition etc, reduces the ability for those who come after to have this " platinum standard " but unrated surgery be covered routinely by insurance. I appreciate everyone has their own issues and their own lives...I would just like a greater consciousness and perhaps brother/sisterhood in supporting the next generations of obese be able to get this surgery. Thanks for letting me ramble and put out my long winded opinion. Feedback is always appreciated as is opposing views. Hugs, Theresa
