Guest guest
Hi , Do you have a BS tester??? If so, then I would test him. Pedialyte is not enough to keep 's BSLs up, but does have severe hypo-g according to the Drs. Is Colin eating?? Will he eat any of the components of the BRAT diet?? A day or two of this will usually help firm things up. Hope this helps! Pat
Guest guest
No, I don't have a tester and he isn't interested in eating at all. He is going pee now so I don't think he is dehydrated. He has 15 oz. of Pedialyte in him. Maybe I'll try some Peptamen Jr. > Hi , > > Do you have a BS tester??? If so, then I would test him. Guest guest
, You should try mixing half Pedialyte and half Peptamen, Jr. and see how Colin tolerates it. If that is too much, then go to 3/4 Pedialyte. He needs the Peptamen and the sugars and proteins in it to keep his blood sugar up. Also, when he does feel like eating, the BRAT diet is okay for a day, but then you have to add some fat to his diet. Fat slows down the metabolism so things don't just go right through him. I learned this the hard way. My daughter once had a stomach bug like this and she was so dehydrated and sick. I could not understand because she was eating the foods on the BRAT diet. The doctor told me that I had to add fats to help her digestion. She said to give her butter, chicken, and eggs because of the fat in them. It worked! Guest guest
Thanks, Jodi. I've been giving him a half and half mix and he hasn't had another bout, so hopefully he is on the mend. I will try the BRAT diet as soon as he is up to eating again. > > , > > You should try mixing half Pedialyte and half Peptamen, Jr. and see > how Colin tolerates it.
